Region 6 has sent a bulletin advising caution regarding an individual who has been inviting OA members to an individual Zoom call with bad intent. See below…

We have just been made aware of an upsetting new Zoom scenario. We have multiple reports from other Regions about an abusive caller all who is getting phone numbers from oa.org and texting/calling members and then wants to talk on Zoom.  DO NOT GET ON ZOOM WITH THEM. You can ask how they got your information, but do not give them any personal information. Note the following: Please be aware if you get a text from an unknown number mentioning they want more information about OA. At first it may seem legitimate. Do NOT give them any personal information. They don’t want to talk on the phone – they want to Zoom with you. They will mention that they will send you a link; do NOT click on any links they send you. Do not get on a Zoom call with them. There have been instances of pornography and other obscenities, so do not click on any link (Zoom or otherwise) they send. Nous venons d’être informés d’un nouveau scénario troublant sur Zoom. Nous avons reçu de nombreux rapports des autres régions concernant des individus abusifs qui obtiennent des numéros de téléphone sur oa.org, puis envoient des SMS ou appellent des membres et insistent pour parler sur Zoom.  N’ENTREZ PAS EN CONTACT AVEC EUX SUR ZOOM. Vous pouvez leur demander comment ils ont obtenu votre numéro, mais ne leur donnez aucune information personnelle. Notez ce qui suit : Soyez vigilant si vous recevez un message d’un inconnu vous indiquant qu’il souhaite obtenir des informations sur OA. À première vue, cela peut sembler légitime. Ne lui donnez PAS d’informations personnelles.  Ils ne veulent pas parler au téléphone – ils veulent Zoomer avec vous. La personne mentionnera qu’elle vous enverra un lien ; ne cliquez PAS sur les liens qu’elle vous envoie. Ne participez pas à un appel Zoom avec eux. Il y a eu des cas de pornographie et d’autres obscénités, ne cliquez donc sur aucun lien (Zoom ou autre) qu’il vous envoie.
